Is Surgery Required To Insert Feeding Pump?

I have a family member who is elderly 81 and in the hospital. She stopped breathing and was revive. she lost few seconds without oxigen to the brain. She is breathing on her own. She is partly brain use. Hospital is keeping her sudated and is not feeding her. The reason for not feeding is due to the stage her organs are in. She has been breathing on her own for two weeks and family feel that she needs some food once she was stable. Family feel the hospital is not feeding her to make her comfortable to die and keep her dope up. Hospital said they would have to give her surgery to ad pump to be able to feed her. Have you heard any such medicine.

Hello
When some patient is unable to eat by mouth normally we insert a tube also known as feeding tube or Ryle's tube or nasogastric tube .
Eatables as per required by a normal person introduced through this tube and all food material ( normally in liquid form enter into the stomach )very easily entered into the stomach ( layman terms into abdomen ).
When , as you mentioned that she is normally taking respiration so she can take food with the help of food pipe through this tube .
If everything is normal as respiration , temperature , heart rate , blood pressure , you can consult another physician from your hospital and get his help as this is a very easy and reliable method ( unless it is contraindicated ).
Good luck.
