Is Surgery Suggested For The Cure Of Colloid Goiter With Cystic Degeneration?

I am 41 years of age (female). I am suffering from colloid goiter with cystic degeneration. The aforesaid goiter is gradually growing. After going through all the test reports Dr. M.K. Mukherjee, Endocrinologist opined that it should be removed by surgery. Can you suggest me treatment other than sugrery for thyroid nodule?

Hi,

Size of your colloid goiter is increasing. I assume that your are taking necessary medicines which your endocrinologist has prescribed. This means medical treatment is not responding and it may convert to toxic nodular goiter. So the last option is surgical removal. Antithyroid medications (propylthiouracil, methimazole) and radioactive iodine are other treatments but has their own side effects.
