Is Taking Etodolac Safe During Pregnancy?

My name is Paige and ive been trying to conceive a baby, over the Christmas holiday I had light and brief bleeding, this was two weeks before my period was due to start. Now it is the 12th of January and I started a strange period four days before my expected period. I had no cramping prior to this period and was having pregnancy like symptoms aswell, its kind of light fot my normal period too. I don't know what to do, im supposed to be taking pain meds called Etodolac but I have only taken one tablet because if I am pregnant I am scared it will harm my baby. Am I pregnant? What do I do about the medicine?

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

The medication that you are mentioning is in a class of drugs called NSAIDs. This is similar to ibuprofen. In general, we recommend that patients stay away from this class of medications during pregnancy, and in particular during the 1st and 3rd trimesters. I would check a pregnancy test. If it is negative, then it would be reasonable to take this medication. I would repeat the test weekly until you are confident that you are NOT pregnant, and then NOT take the medication if this is the case.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
