Is Taking Stelara Safe When Beginning Radiation Therapy For Cancer?

Hi, I have been on Stelara, a biologic drug for severe psoriasis for 7 years. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer, invasive ductile carcinoma, had surgery, taking a cancer drug and waiting for radiation therapy. I am still not certain that continuing to take biologic drug is safe. What do you think? Thanks. Trudy email is YYYY@YYYY

Dear , This is Dr. S. Tomar from healthcaremagic.com's medical team and I ll be your medical advisor for this question. First of all thank you for sharing your concern with us and showing trust on us.
Stelara may increase the risk of malignancy , so its advised not to use it when you are having malignancy of any kind .Safety issues of stelara in presence of malignancy have not been evaluated till and more clinical research are needed to see the effects. You should discuss about it with your Oncologist also.

This is my initial response and discussion is open until you have any query or need further clarification.
I wish you good health .
Thank you for your question and feel free to contact further for any question .
sincerely,
Dr. Shardendu Tomar
