Is Taking Steroid Injection Into L5 While BP Being 138/70 Safe?
On a recent trip to a pain management specialist to have steroids injected into L5 of my back, my BP was 138/70. The nurse seemed a little concerned, but I had told her that I was nervous about the procedure. Normally mt BP is between 110/70 to 120/80. Should I be worried?
I read your question and I understand your concern.
After considering those values I don't think there's much reason to be concerned, apart from the injection being a local one not systemic, those readings are normal, a systolic pressure of 138 while at the limit of norm is understandable during to visit stress. If you are feeling particularly stressed about the procedure perhaps a single dose of benzodiazepine (like alprazolam, lorazepam) an hour prior to the procedure would help.
I hope to have been of help.
