Is Tenderness At The Injury Site On The Head A Concern?

My 9 year old daughter was hit on the right side of head near the temple area yesterday afternoon at school. It s still tender when she touches the area. Given it was the temple area, should I be concerned. She is fine, went to school today, karate practice, played etc., it doesn t bother her, but if she puts her finger on the area and lightly pushes, she said it s still sore (although better then yesterday)?? Thanks

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Features to be concerned about following head trauma include:
-loss of consciousness

-seizures
-vomiting
-no breathing nor pulse
-pupils of unequal size
-restlessness
-irritability
-pale complexion
-paralysis.

Her soreness is most likely due to a musculoskeletal injury or bone bruise from which she will recover in a few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
