Is The HIV Test Result Conclusive With CMIA?

Dear doctor, 38 days ago, I had unprotected anal sex around 5 minutes without a condom, im a gay and role as a bottom. and then I did CMIA test at 36 days or 5 weeks after potential exposure. and the result was negative. The method of my hiv test was CMIA, but it is not mentioned that duo/combo or p24 antigen and antibody on paper only CMIA, is my test already using the fourth generation with p24 antigen/antibody?, because I don t know. and is my test result conclusive enough with the cmia method?. because im so scared, and really in a big anxiety. help me doc, to reduce my anxiety.

Dear thanks for the question.

I share your concerns as HIV is a serious issue. CMIA test which you have mentioned is 4th generation test for hiv and it includes p24 and antibodies. But as per my knowledge it is conclusive after 6 weeks. Since you have done it on 36th day I would advise you to do it again next week. If it is negative again you have not contacted hiv.

I would further advise you not to indulge in unprotected sexual inter course. Protection is always better.
