Is The Blood During Cough Related To Tonsils?

I had my tonsillectomy done on the 15th of this month, I ve been noticing some blood on one side of my throat however did not pay much attention to it. Tonight, I went to sleep and suddenly started coughing...then I went to the bath room and my spit had some spots of blood in it, I did not worry because I was told this was normal. Then I took a look into my throat and realize that the side with blood on it still seems to have blood there. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The blood can be related to the surgery that you have done. I recommend using a throat spray with antibacterial properties.

I also recommend to gargle with salt water to clean the throat. In my opinion there is nothing to be worried about.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
