Is There A Relationship Between Coumadin And Anemia?

My wife has taken Coumadin for several years. In the last month or so she has been very tire and blood tests indicate anemia. Her red blood cells are down and despite Iron infusions they remain down. Is there a relationship between Coumadin and amenia?

Hi,

Coumadin is a blood thinner, increasing your wife's chances for bleeding.

Your wife is feeling tired due to anemia.

Persisting anemia could be related to any source of bleeding in your wife's body. I suggest to discuss with your doctor about running further tests to identify the source of bleeding:

- fecal occult blood testing
- urine analysis
- abdominal ultrasound

All the best!
