Is There A Restriction On Oxycodone Quantity In Pharmacys?

Hello I was wondering if pharmacy s were restricted in the amount of Oxycodone 30mg I have been filling my scripts at the same pharmacy for 5 years and I went in to get my same scripts and they said they could not fill the script due to they said they were restricted by the government they said that they could not fill anything over the amount of 200 I was wondering if this is true I would think that if there was a restriction my Dr. would have known and either adjusted my amount and add something else or change the medication completely and go with something else that would work just as well so if you know anything about that it would be great Thank you Jeremy

Hi,

Yes, it is an opioid with abuse potential and one of the medications with quantity limits. A quantity limit (QL) defines how much of a particular drug, patients can get during a medication regime. Quantity limit drugs may be covered up to the amount indicated. To get coverage for amounts in excess of the listed quantity limit, the prescribing physician, the patient or the person appointed to manage the patient’s care may request a medical except.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
