Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM,
The dog bite should be managed properly because the disease transmitted by dog is 100% fatal but it is 100% preventable with proper and timely treatment.
As there was no bleeding following the bite, it will categorized int Cat II according to WHO classification. The Cat II bite requires proper wound wash and antirabies vaccine on days 0,3,7,14 and 28. The antirabies vaccine and the Inj Rabipur is one and the same and you have given proper injection. Diabetes is not contraindicated for inj rabipur.
I would suggest you to give your father 1.Antirabies vaccine as per the schedule 2.Oral Antibiotics like Tab Augmentin for 5days
Thank you.
