Is There Any Difference In Effectiveness Of Painless And Painful DTP Vaccines?

Hello Dr. My baby boy is just completed 2 month and we are planning for his 2nd DTP vaccine. Due to unavailability of painless vaccine we use painful injection for his 1st vaccine and he suffer with fever and pain around 24 hrs. But this time, we want your suggestion for choosing between painless - painful injection. I heard, Painless is less effective then painful vaccine. Please advise.

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Recent reports say that the painless(acellular) is less effective than the painful(whole cell) injection.
If you like you may use acellular vaccine this time.
even if you give whole cell vaccine the pain and inflammation can be prevented by giving paracetamol drops every 6 hourly starting soon after injection.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
