my daughter had her ultra sound results today what do they mean??? Single intrauterine gestational sac suggesting approximately 4 - 5 weeks of gestation. fetal pole and heart beat not yet visable. Repeat scan in 2 weeks time should be performed to further assess for ongoing live gestation.

Thanks for writing in.

At approximately 6 to 7 weeks of gestation the heart beat is seen and the fetus can then be called as a viable pregnancy. There is no need to worry. 4 - 5 weeks was too early for a scan. As the gestation is intrauterine the site of pregnancy appears to be normal.
