Is There Any Interaction Among All These Medicines?

Hi, my husband is 80 years old, has had a heart attack, has CHF, CSA, has had two strokes, has type II diabetes, has pacemaker, defib, restless leg syndrome. His meds are Warfarin, Armour Thyroid, Lisinopril Donepezil and a new doctor treating him for central sleep apnea has prescribed Requip and Nuvigil. He is ALWAYS tired, weak, sleepy and dizzy. Will any of these med interact? Thank you.

Hi.
Yes, the co-administered medications can increase the Warfarin toxicity.

Takin Warfarin along with Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated), Requip (Ropinirole), Nuvigil (Armodafinil) can increase the risk of Warfarin toxicity resulting in bleeding or bruising, vomiting of blood, blood in the urine or stools, etc.

Your husband may need a dose adjustment in addition to maintaining a normal Prothrombin time or International Normalized Ratio (INR).

So, for this he needs to consult his treating doctor to adjust the dose of Warfarin and to see that the Prothrombin time and INR are kept within their normal ranges.

Hope this answers your query.
