Is There Any Interaction Between Doxycycline And Alcohol?

Is there interaction between doxycycline and alcohol? I have chronic bladder infections and use antibiotics to treat flair ups. I drank about a half of a glass of beer yesterday for the first time in years. I know there was one of my antibiotics that my Doctor prescribed that would make me very sick and vomit if I drank within 10 days. I do not remember which one? I feel bad enough without making myself vomit.

Hello,
Alcohol should not be drunk whilst taking doxycycline capsules .Intake of alcohol stimulates the metabolism of doxycycline by the liver. Thus effectiveness of medication will be decreased.

Hope this helps.

Wishing you good health.
