Is There Any Maximum Age Limit For Taking Ritalin?

I was told that I was no longer allowed to take Ritalin to treat my ADHD because I'm over the age of 18 and that, legally, I had to be on a stronger stimulant. However, I am un able to properly afford anything more than Ritalin and told my doctor this might be the reason why my previous prescriber hadn't taken me off it yet.

I need to know, is there actually a maximum legal age limit? Or is my new doctor purposely trying to make me buy $300+ drugs knowing full well I can't afford it?

Hi,

ADHD has its own problems, so also Ritalin. If you have this problem with change of drug, I feel you shall take second opinion, because to continue Ritalin or to start any other medicine thorough history and physical check up and a few investigation s may be required.

Then only it can be said if Ritalin should be continued or not, or you can discuss this with your current physician as well. She/He will be able to hep you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

In this condition you need to discuss with your physician as he/she knows your other conditions. Every medicine has its own harmful effects in long term. You may consider a second opinion too.

But other physicians may ask for a few investigations along with thorough history and physical examination. which may cost you further. Your physician who knows your physical condition well as well as the history will be a better guide in this situation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
