Is There Any Pill To Nullify The Effect Of Warfarin?

A friend has been denied an operation for a skin graft Op on his leg because his local GP had not told him to cease taking Warfarin sometime before the OP date Is there a pill that can be taken immediately or shortly before the Op which can nullify having to wait for a I certain time before getting in line for the OP. ? He has been told he will have to wait 2 months . Sincerely Iain Campbell.

There is a reversal agent to Warfarin in the form of Vitamin K, as well as Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) used in hospitals. However, if your GP said that your friend has to stay on Coumadin for another two months, he is likely saying that it would not be safe to reverse the Warfarin AT ALL in the next two months, even for an operation. Your friend's GP is likely worried about the risk of your friend developing a serious blood clot if he stops his Coumadin. I would recommend following your doctor's advice and waiting 2 more months.
