Is There Any Possibility For Survival In Ectopic Pregnancy?
yes. I am 7 weeks and had an ultra sound. They say they don t see a sack in my uterus and I might be at risk of an ectopic pregnancy. I am bleeding lightly and very scared. Going to see obgyn tomorr. Is there a chance that they could still see a sac in my uterus in my follow up? I am very healthy
Hi, thanks for posting your concern in HCM. YES, You will survive if you seek early treatment. The mortality from this condition is less than 1 per 1000 in many developed countries. Even in the developing countries, prompt treatment saves the lives of so many. But, absence of the sac at 7 weeks, if you have done the scan from a reliable centre, rules out the possibility of finding a sac in the next scan. In case, you were tested positive for pregnancy and the sac is absent, it may be due to false negative report of UPT. But, again, the more common possibility is you have ectopic pregnancy depending on your history. In that case, you must know that ectopic pregnancy is an obstetric emergency and needs prompt surgical management. With early and correct treatment under supervision of a consultant gynaecologist, you can save your life and fertility. Best wishes. Dr. Kaushik
