Is There Any Risk In Ingesting Xanax To 4 Year Old?

My 4 yr old son may have ingested a. 5 mg Xanax - it is missing from the bottle and he insists he didn t take it. I knew it was there and the bottle was somehow opened. Its been over an hour, and he seems to be acting a little funny although I m not sure if I m being paranoid. He s not drooling and seems like his balance is OK, and has no complaints. What should I do? He s 40 lbs and turned 4 about 4 mo ago.

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi...I understand that it is 0.5mg and not 5mg. Even this dose is high for a 4 year old weighing 40lbs. Other than the side effects you have mentioned there are others too. I suggest you take your kid to the nearest emergency room and have him examined by a physician or pediatrician.
