Is There Any Side Effects For Pentid 400?

My daughter had reumatic fever when she was 7 years old. She was on Pentid 400 till she was 14 years old. She is now 29 and is expecting her first baby. She is currently in her 3rd month. Is there any side effect of the Pentid she has earlier? If so what precaution or medication should she take?

Hi,

Unlikely to cause delayed side effects. Pentid-400 is commonly prescribed to prevent rheumatic fever and infection of the heart valves in people with pre-existing heart disease.

Its common side effects during the course of treatment include allergy, vomiting, and diarrhea. Since your daughter has already stopped taking pentid 15 years ago, it is unlikely to cause any delayed side effects.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
