Hi,

Age, gender and other associated medical illness not mentioned. Prolomet Xl-25 (metoprolol) is a 'heart' selective beta blocker commonly prescribed to treat hypertension. As long as your blood pressure is controlled you may continue to use it as prescribed by your doctor. Its common side effects on prolonged use include decreased heart rate, fatigue, difficulty in breathing (more common in patients with bronchial asthma), mood changes, and erectile dysfunction (impotency).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
