Is There Anything To Worry About Painful, Dark Bruise On Lower Leg Of A 4 Year Old Child?

My 4 year old has a dark bruise on his lower leg with a white patch in the middle (he doesn't remember how he got it but that's not unusual). It's not bothered him for a few days but woke him in the night screaming in pain. this morning he says the pain has subsided.

Should I be concerned?
