Is There Permanent Cure For RA ?

hi i have been very VerY sick over the last 2 yrs and have had RA for most of my life plus many other things over the last 3yrs; i am 48. I can not seem to get the right quality care and get brushed off posibly because of my insurance but am willing to start paying if i can recieve proper care

Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM. I don't think there is a permanent cure for RA. But, remission from the active disease is definitely possible. Generally there is exacerbation and remissions. In some patient the disease may be self limited. In others it is chronic progressive in nature. Nearly half of the patients with the disease become disabled after 10 years. Very early (within first 12 weeks of initial symptoms) treatment with DMARDs may produce remission. However, prediction of the course of the disease in an individual patient is very difficult. However, female sex, certain genotype, systematic symptoms, extra-articular manifestations, younger age, high serum titer of autoantibodies are usually associated with poor prognosis.
