Is Turmeric Root Safe To Take Along With A Health Drink Post Workout?

I am 70, 5'7" and 150 lb's. I work out 3 hours a day (Yoga, weights, gymnastics, and cardio). A dietician recommended that I include a slice of Tumeric root in my health drink each day. Any reason why I should be concerned or avoid this natural plant?

According to the Botanical Council, turmeric is very safe except if you have gall stones.

The average dosage per the Council is 1.5-3 g/ day & its effects are primarily for dyspepsia and as an anti-inflammatory.
