Is Ulcer, Related With Heartburn And Upper Stomach Pain?

I never get heartburn so I don t know what it feels like however I woke in the middle of the night with a dull pain in what I think is my upper stomach, right in the middle at the base of my ribs. This pain has been off and on since. It hurts when I sleep, it hurts when I m hungry. Could this be an ulcer? I take alot of Aleve for migraines and happen to take it 2x the day before on an empty stomach. I m afraid I may have done damage.

Hi, thank you for asking Healthcare Magic.
Aleve is a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug with one if its side effects being gastritis and peptic ulcer diseases. The drug decreases the synthesis of mucus which protects the stomach wall from acid irritation. There is another non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs like celecoxib which can still relieve you of the pain and would not cause gastric side effects. I would suggest you stop Aleve and try Celecoxib or you see your treating doctor for advice.

i hope that answers your query
