Is Ulcerative Colitis Related With Bloody Mucus Stools?

i was diagnosed with ulcerative colitus in 1998 i was hospitalised for 2 weeks because of the severity of the attack. however i have never had an attack since. i have recently quit smokeing and have started to pass blood and mucus is there any connection i am 35
