Is Uterus Removal The Solution For An Hypothyroid Female Having Uterus Bleeding ?
My aunt aged 43-44 has hypothyroid problem, she is over weight too, her weight is about 115kgs, these days she is having some swear problems like bleeding through uterus, she is swear problem and very depressed, she is loosing blood rapidly, kindly give your recommendations, should she go for the operation to remove the uterus.. ?

Increased bleed from uterus called Menorrhagia , is a common complication of hypothyroidism in mensturating females. If menorrhagis is very severe and not controlled by conservative methods - means if not able to control with drugs then yes removal of uterus - Hysterectomy is a indication. Your possible course of action should be 1) Get her hypothyroidism treated with L-thyroxine tabs(under doctors consultation) 2) Try manage uterine bleed by drugs under consultation by a gynaecologist - harmonal drugs can be used and with repeated blood transfusions. 3) If drugs cant work and she is bleeding uncontrollably then i think you need to opt for hysterectomy as a last rwesort after clearly understanding its side effects from the operating surgeon.
