Is Virus Infection Related With Bloody Diarrhea,sweating With Stomach Pain?

My wife just had an episode that come on suddenly and involved extreme stomach pain, diarrhea with red blood, sweating, and the feeling that her throat was closing and lips swelling. The later has abated but she still has pain in her stomach. Emergency responders said it could have been a virus or an allergic reaction. There was nothing she ate that she didn t eat the day before (ie just leftovers) change in environment. Her vitals were normal. Any idea what this might be and do we need to get her in to see her doctor?

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of your wife having sudden and extreme stomach pains, diarrhea with red blood, sweating and feeling of throat closing and lips being swollen, ER says allergy or virus infection, vitals are normal; wants to know whether to go to a Doctor.
Since there are serious symptoms, she needs a clinical evaluation by a Doctor, investigations to be ordered for tests of blood, stool and urine, ultrasound of the whole abdomen and have clinical correlation with the lab reports to give you proper management.
This could have been a virus and hence the problems, but the feeling of throat swelling an lips getting enlarged indicate an allergic reaction.
If there is an evidence of bacterial infection, she will need an antibiotic and supportive therapy.
If allergic reaction, then antihistamine and steroids may be needed.
If viral, needs supportive and symptomatic treatment and keep under observation about the further progress.
It may be needed to keep admitted for close observation and management.
