Is Warfrain Medicine Safe For Heart Patients With Pressure?
I have been on Pradaxa 150mg twice a day ever since June 2011 when had a stork I am nurse by profession but had to quit my job .Now I am having some issues with pradaxa .So today I called my Cardiology and he prescribed me warfarin 5mg daily I am concern With my blood pressure being little high on cartia 180mg daily need to know weather it is safe for me to start warfrain
Hello, when prescribed drugs with potentially serious side-effects your doctor has to make sure that benefit outweighs the risk. If you were taking anticoagulation due to atrial fibrillation which I suspect is the case then you should definitely take it. It would be preferable - of course - if your blood pressure was under control. But you have to know that without it you may suffer very serious events like stroke. The same applies if you had a prosthetic valve etc. Since your doctor already prescribed you both pradaxa and warfarin, I'm sure he already did the benefit-risk calculation.
