Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thanks for this query.

Weight gain is not direct side effect of this drug. However, increased calories intake is the principal cause of weight gain in patients when taking drugs that may increase their appetite for food. I will like that you follow up with your treating doctor to evaluate the current treatment and make the decision on whether it is safe to continue or not. What guides the duration here is your response and the evolution of the disease and nor arbitrary deadlines.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
