Hi I have a few small white spots under my tongue, on the small piece of vertical skin (frenulum?). I noticed the pain the last few days but only bothered to investigate now. They hurt quite a lot and I can't move my tongue carefully......is this something acute or should I go to the doctor?
I would keep a possibility of Oral Aphthae. They present as painful erosions/ulcers on the oral mucosa. The white spots are actually necrotic epidermal slough covering the ulcers.
If I was the treating doctor I would have suggested you a mouthwash and an oral analgesic to facilitate eating.
I would have advocated a topical steroid in an orabase, to be applied twice daily for a few days.
An Oral B-complex supplement is also useful in case of oral ulcers/aphthae.
regards
