Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
The sudden appearance of skin rashes , hives like lesions, intense itching prior to menses may be due to a hormone progesterone. It is also known as autoimmune progesterone dermatitis.
As it is due to sensitisation to progesterone levels in blood, we can just suppress the same by taking oral antihistamines like cetirizine for few days prior to menses.
Hope that answers your query.
Take care
