Hello Dr, I woke this morning to an itchy sensation on the section where my mon pubis meets just where the inner part and above the left side of my labia . I am not sure if I got the terms correct. I have spoken to my doctor about it and he said its because of the thickness of my hair and the sensitive skin that is causing it. But it keeps coming in the same spot and this is about the 4th time it has happened. I m worried and have been tested and was told I was okay.
Different individuals react and respond differently to otherwise normal situations.
The thickness of your pubic hair could lead to an accumulation or stagnation of sweat, urine, etc; which can cause accumulation of bacteria and result in irritation of the underlying region.
In such cases doctors usually advise trimming or shaving of the pubic hair, although trimming would be preferred in your specific situation.
As mentioned by you, if you have been tested for infections (tests: urine analysis and vaginal swab test), which have reported negative results; then the cause could most probably be the pubic hair or even the method employed by you to clean your genitals after passing urine. Please make sure you clean the region appropriately with water or toilet paper. Not allowing the stagnation of urine around the genitals or pubic hair.
I hope this helps.
Take care.
