Kids Suffering From Hand, Foot And Mouth. Treatment?

My 3 grandchildren have hand, foot and mouth disease. The 6 yr old is the worst. She is crying all the time and we can't get much down her. I am 62 with a weakened immune system. The night before we knew she had it, she took a drink out of my water bottle. Should I be concerned for myself and how can we get her to get something down.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic
in fact there is no specific treatment
offer plenty of cool fluids. ice cream etc., so that she can swallow without any difficulty
dont give the child acidic or spicy foods like orange juice
they will make the mouth sores more painful
give paracetamol/ibuprofen for fever
dont give apirin lest it may cause rey's syndrome
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Take care
