Knee Cap Is Hurting. Can Hardly Walk. Have A Sharp Pain Inside The Knee Cap. Took Tylilol. Suggestions?

All of a sudden when I got up this morning my right knee cap hurts and as the day developed I could hardly walk because of sharp pain inside of my right knee cap. What could be my problem.? When I got home 2 hours ago, I took 2 Tylilol tablets, 500mg each and I just finished wraping the knee with ace bandage just now. Thanks!

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain. The spontaneous onset of this pain at rest overnight makes ligament and tendon tears or ruptures which are the most feared causes of knee pains very unlikely. I will suggest that you continue with ibuprofen, ice packs and put the knee to rest over a few days and see what we get so long as there is no fever, swelling or aggravation of symptoms.

Iff you should not get better over the next 1week, symptoms become worse or you develop a fever and swelling, then I would suggest that you go in and get consulted for examination and investigations to find out what the cause it. It could be caused by an infection if fever and swelling are present.

I hope this helps and guides you. feel free to ask for more information and thank you so much for using our services.
I wish you the best of health.
