Knee Pain Even After Surgery. Torn? Does The MRI Show This?

Hello doctor,
I went in to see my doctor after I was given a MRI and he told me he couldn't "fully" see my acl so he thinks I might have reinjured it. ( I am almost 9 months out of surgery ). My doctor kept saying it might be torn he's not sure so he told me to try cutting on it and let him know. I cut on it and it feels fine, I feel mentally I'm still holding myself back from fully planting hard but I'm still cutting. My speed is also not 100% percent but its only been almost month since my knee buckled when I was running straight line. Do you think it's torn? Wouldn't the MRI have shown clearly if it was gone? Thank You for your time.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

As of now, MRI scan is the only investigation of choice that will diagnose all the soft tissue problems inside the knee joint with accuracy.

From your description of symptoms, I suspect that you might have injured the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) which is an important stabilizer and prevents the anterior translation of the knee joint.

I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for a detailed clinical evaluation and management.

Hope this information is helpful . Good day
