Knee Pain, No Swelling. History Of Running Long Distance
I am training for a half marathon that is in two weeks. I just started to get episodes of pain in my rt knee. It happened 1.5 miles into my run last night. I hobbled around for a quarter mile or so i just started on a steep incline. I could bear wgt w/o pain if i walked on my toes on that leg. By the time i had gone a ways like that it feltbetter and i was able to run the rest of the way home with no pain. I ran my trial 13.1 today(i know not super smart) and atmile 6.60 my knee did it again. I hobbled on my toes for about 3yards then i was fine the rest of the way. The pain is behind my knee cap. Not swollen. Very painful when it happens. I was only able to run 4 miles last week r/t my kids birthday and spring. break activities. Prior to this I have averaged about 13-17 miles a week running every other day or so for months.
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. Looking at your description and the syptoms, I am of the opinion that you might be having either problem in the articular surface of the patella (knee cap) or it could be due to catching of infrapatellar fat pad within the joint (Hoffa's disease). Advised * Rest to the knee joint * Intermittant ice compression * ocassional anagesic medications
I suggest you to meet an orthosurgeon if symptoms persist. Hope this helps
