Knee Swelling, Stiffness Behind Knee, Weakness, Sharp Pain On Outer Side Of Knee Cap. History Of Sprained Right Knee. Treatment?

I was told that I had a severe sprained right knee in january of 2011. Still to this day and getting worse, my knee swells up sometimes, behind my knee gets stiff, my knee feels weak like its going to give out on me and I get sharp pains on the outter side of the knee cap and it shoots all around the knee cap and behind my knee. Why is this

if a knee swells it is always indicative of a problem within the knee joint. you should have further investigations with an MRI scan. yor symptoms could be consistent with a meniscal tear. if this was the diagnosis then the year can be repaired or removed (most common) by arthroscopy which is day case surgery with a rapid recovery.
