Knees Crack, Pop While Getting Up, Walking. Left Knee Swollen, Limping. How To Get Relief?

Both knees tend to crack and pop when I get up and walk. This has been going on for 1-2 years. Left knee is a big swollen on the back side and is popping every time I walk. Some pain but not alot. I am limping on the left leg since bowling this saturday. Right knee will have issues with any type of activity. I am 43 years old and would like to get back to more activities(exercise, pitching to my kids, basketball, etc) Any suggestions?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
You can help the improvement by-
1. Avoid any strenuous knee exercises, lifting weights, climbing stairs, cycling, etc.
2. Take a mild pain killer like acetaminophen every 8 hourly.
3. Do a hot fomentation in the area twice daily.
4. You can apply a local analgesic gel like Volini also.
5. Use an elastic knee brace for better knee support while walking.
Do consult an Orthopedician for a physical examination and stronger prescription medicines in case there is swelling, persistent pain and difficulty in walking.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
Regards.
