Knees Feel Cold, Painful While Moving About, Feet Feel Hot. Done Tests. What Is The Reason?

In normal time of the day as I am moving around, my knees feel cold and slight painful when sitting, standing, or walking. Pain doubles when climbing a stair. Nothing else bothers me. When I lay down to go to sleep, my knees feel extreemely cold. Therefore, I have to wear heavey pants, wrap my knees with special wrappers, and cover them with a conforter to keep them warm. If I did not do that, then my knees would feel like if one would be poking them with needles. At the same time, my feet feel extremely hot even if they touch the sheet. The way I sleep is, I do what I said about my knees. I must keep my feet free from touching anything; therefore, sticking or hanging out of bed, and a fan must be on during the entire time I am laying down blowing air at my feet. Sometimes the air is not enough, then I would have to squirt cold water onto them to cool them down. If no fan, then my feet would swell to almost double in size and the portion of my legs between my knees and ankles would pour with sweat.

When I was a teenager to my mid 20’s, I jogged about 15 to 20 miles each time, 3 to 4 times a week. About the time when I stopped jogging about 25 years ago, my feet would just die out in the middle of my jogging session. I would loose even the ability to hold them up and straight. Then I would sit down for a minute or two when they came back alive again. I went to neurologists, orthopedists, cardiologists, and others. I had numerous tests done that I even forgot what they were. No one ever told me they found anything out of normal. The strangest thing was that none of them ever heard of anyone with my condition. So I am living with it. Can someone help please?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The symptoms that you are having could be due to age related degenerative changes in the knee joints or a nerve affection- neuropathy. You need to get an X-ray of the knee joint done to detect any such changes.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
