Lab Report Shows Alt And Ast Are High. Had Hip And Femur Surgery, Had Gad Screws, Plates And Rod. Is The Lab Report Related To This?
My husband just had his labs come back and his alt and ast are very high. Numerous yrs ago he had hip and femur surgery so he gad screws, plates and a rod. A friends father hsd the similar thing and his levels went up also and ended up dying. The son said it was from the metals. Is there a relation to his metals that would be doing this?
In some rare circumstances metal implants can leak into the surrounding tissue and into the blood stream. If these metals are in the system, they would be detectable in the blood stream on testing.
There are other causes for increased liver enzymes. The other causes are: (1) infection of the liver (2) fatty liver disease- this is becoming more common, it involves the deposition of fat into the liver. This can progress to inflammation of the liver (3)side effect of medication (4)alcohol (5)trauma.
Imaging of the liver may be required.
I hope this helps
