Large Deep Skin Injury On The Ankle, Swelling. No Symptoms While Foot Is Kept Elevated. Why?

Hello. i am a 32 y/o healthy female. I sustained a large, deep skin injury on my foot/ankle 10 days ago. I have had major swelling, with serous drainage (no pus) and now a scab is forming. My concern is that I must keep it elevated. When I lower it to the floor swelling, redness, and warmth set in immidiatley, and the pain is excruciating. When it is elevated, all those symptoms go away. Otherwise i feel fine and have had no fever.

Hello.

The injured soft tissue shows a swelling, pain and redness due to the dependent edema. On lowering down, there is accumulation of the fluid in the foot. It is not worrisome as any inflammation is not likely.
