Large Swelling On Thigh Under Skin, Pain, Throbbing Sensation, Gets Worse On Exercising. Cure?
under the skin on the outside of my right thigh there is a large swelling/hard area (tennis ball size) it does sometimes appear to shrink and the majority of the time is painless but last night couldn t lie on that side in bed. also the area is throbbing today. I do go to a gym and it may appear to get worse after I have been there. There is no visible change on the skin.
From your description, there are different possibilities of painful swelling beneath the skin with no discoloration. Normally it would have been proper for me to be able to see the swelling and examine it before I can conclude. But non the less, that does not stop us from thinking of the various possibilities.
We could have
- A sebaceous cyst
- Adenofibroma
- Abscess Right now, you will need to visit a surgeon so that he can examine and probably do a biopsy of the mass or decide directly on surgical excision of the mass in case he/she thinks is a cyst or benign mass. If abscess, then appropriate antibiotics will need to be given and pain killer.
Hope this helps
