Long Period After Implanon Insertion. Is It Normal To Have Brown And Thick Discharge?
Hello, I had the implanon inserted about 2 months ago. a month later i came on my usual period, this period has lasted 3 weeks- with two days not on between each week, (im still on this period) for the last two weeks during this period my period blood is a brown colour and is thick, which seems unusual. I was just wondering if this is normal?
Hi and thank you so much for trusting us with your heath query.
I am so sorry to hear about this lengthy periods. Bleeding for three weeks need assessment for proper management. Though spotting after implanon insertion is a possible side effect, the duration is concerning and exposes you to potential life threatening conditions like anemia, low blood volume and shock. I will suggest that you get consulted by a gynecologist to look for the possible cause and treat accordingly.
I hope you find this helpful. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and please do feel free to ask for clarifications or more information if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.
