Losing Weight After Insufficiency Of Breast Milk.Suggest Alternatives
Hello doctor, my name is theresa and have a baby girl who has completed 3 months. She is a late pre-term baby. She weighed 3.3 at birth, now she is 5 k.g. She looks thin . Her cheeks were chubby n was having double chin but now she looks thin. She is on breastfeed. I've tried formula feed like dexolac and similac, which she is not drinking . Initially my daughter drank dexolac during her birth, since I didn't have milk. Now am feeding her, but it seems as if it is not enough for her. She keeps sucking her fingers and wants to feed often and more, but my milk is not enough for her. I'm worried and don't knw what to do. Please help me out doctor.
Thanks for your query threresa.I m Dr.Sharon.I would like to tell you that you need to drink atleast 3 litres of water per day and include lots of green leafy vegetables in your diet. And if necessary you can use Lactare tablets thrice a day for one month. Its a safe indigenous preparation from green leaves. These things will definitely increase ypur milk supply and your baby will have enough milk.5 kg weight at 3 months falls within the normal range. No need to worry.Looking chubby and plumpy are not the criterias for health.Dont use formulas unnecessarily.
