Lump In Breast Close To Chest, Had Mammogram Reports Normal. Cause For The Lump?
I have a lump in my breast close to the chest wall that feels bumpy and the size of a walnut. I had a mammogram a year and a half a go and was given the all clear - told it was hormonal as I am 50. The lump back then was a pea size. This new lump has appeared since then. It feels achy and I am aware of it if my arm brushes over my breast. I have an appointment to see a doctor next week.
Hello
Thank you for your query.
The lump you sound could be one of the following :
A fibroadenoma - a benign tumour of the breast.
A precancerous or cancerous lesion of the breast.
It could not be infectious or traumatic as it is not painful.
However, without examining you, it is difficult to say exactly what the lump is.
You would need proper examination , mammogram and maybe removal and biopsy of the lump to truly define the nature of the lump.
Go ahead with your appointment next week, and all the best.
