hi doctor i have done my left knee MRI and impression is grade 3 tear posterior horn, body junction of the medial meniscus focally communicating to the inferior articular surface and redial tear at the body of the medial meniscus, after my local doctor advised me to go arthroscopic minisotomi surgery. dear doctor is it required the above said surgery in my case please give your valuable advise thank you,
Not all meniscal tears require surgery. However, if the tear seems to be causing your pain based on your symptoms and physical exam, then surgery may ultimately be necessary. The big question is how much pain are you in and how is this affecting the quality of life. Also, will surgery help?
First consider conservative methods including NSAIDS and rehabilitation/PT.
