MRI Shows L4/5 Disc Degenerate With Loss Of Hydration, Having Pain In Buttocks From This. What Could Be Reason?

Hi my MRI shows L4/5 disc is degenerate with loss of hydration but height is maintained. There is a small disc protrusion and annular tear which indents the the cal sac but no nerve root compression. Please could you help me understand this and why I have pain in my buttocks from this?

The disc degeneration is causing a reduced intervertebral space causing a compression of the nerve root. This causes a shooting a pain along the leg. Rest and medications will help.
