MVA Rear Ended. CT Scan Done. What Does The Report Indicate?
i was in a mva rear ended went for ct scan it showed multilevel degenerative changes, at c4-5 there is disc degeneraton and disc bulging as well as unconvertebral arthropathy resulting in mild bilateral foraminal stenosis, at c5-6 there is disc degeneraton and disc bulging as well as facet arthropathy resulting in mild foraminal stenosis. Also anterior osteophytes were seen involving c4, c5, c6, and c7 there is calcificaton of the anterior longitudinal ligament at c5-c6, Also ct of brain showed vascular sclerosios of trhe internal carotid arteries, again the lumbar spine complete/ pelvis showed a few calcifications of the abdominal aorta. Could you help me to understand what all this means....did the accident cause these or me being the age of 49 cause this
Thanks for writing to us. These are all age related changes. We can call it as wear tear of body. It is not due to accident. Definitely accident increases the risk of injury to spine or vessels due to such changes. Vascular sclerosis means calcium deposition in vessel wall and causing hardening of the wall. In spine degeneration means losing the water content of the disc which leads to loss of shock absorber property of the disc. It mear acts as a spacer. Thanks.
