Mark Appeared On Back, Dark, Red And Purple, Bruised. Is It A Scab?
My 3 month old son had a mark appear on the back of his leg for no apparent reason. It was long and thin, dark red with purple in the center. Urgent care doctor said it was a bruise from a sock, but it was below his sock line. Its still there 2 weeks later, but now appears to have a scab. The skin was not broken before, so I guess my question is, can a bruise scab?

Generally bruise do not scab. Only if the injury is deep enough to cause dermal injury then only a bruise can scab. I feel your son had some insect bite hypersensitivity which later on formed a red area like bruise. As it is improving now so you need not to worry about the same. Do not worry if some mark remains for some time.
